Chris McMahan – Band, Orchestra, and Guitar Director

Mr. McMahan is originally from Cleveland, TN and has been the director of the Glen Burnie High School Band since 2005. Prior to GBHS, he was the Band Director at White County Middle School and Assistant Band Director at White County High School in Sparta, TN.

He is a graduate of Tennessee Technological University (TTU) where he received his degree in Music Education (percussion major) and has been teaching since 2003. While in college, Mr. McMahan was a member of the Golden Eagle Marching Band, Pep Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band and Bryan Symphony. As a part of Abusua, TTU's West African Drumming and Dancing Ensemble, he traveled to Ghana, West Africa to study West African drumming and dancing with the Ewe people.

In 2001, Mr. McMahan became a member of the Independent World Indoor Percussion group, Music City Mystique.

July 2008 will see Mr. McMahan with a new arrival to his family. He and his wife are expecting their first child, Isaac (Ike) Myles McMahan.

Anthony Pinder – Choral Director

Mr. Pinder has been the Choral Director at Glen Burnie High School since 1989, with the exception of the 1996-1997 school year. With a total of 23 years teaching, he has brought a tremendous amount of knowledge to the music program. Under his tutelage, the choral program has continued to grow and excel with five separate choirs. Prior to directing at GBHS, he was a Choir Director at William Penn High School in York, PA and the Band Director at Largo High School in Upper Marlboro, MD. From 1985-1987, Mr. Pinder was a music and band teacher for South Dorchester K-8 School in Cambridge, MD.

Mr. Pinder is a 1984 graduate of West Chester University in Pennsylvania with a BS in Music Education. While at University, he was a member of the Marching and Concert Bands, Brass Choir, Wind Ensemble, Mixed Chorus, Men’s Chorus, and Concert Choir.

He is also a member of many organizations including Anne Arundel County Choral Director’s Association, where he was the Event Manager for the All County Gospel Choir, Teacher’s Association of Anne Arundel County, and Maryland State Teachers Association.

Mr. Pinder is currently enrolled in the Masters Program at McDaniel College.
